Scenic Gondola Rides
Get a bird's-eye view
A scenic gondola ride is an amazing way to experience Mono County. Mammoth Mountain’s Panorama Gondola goes from Main Lodge to the top of Mammoth Mountain at 11,053’. At the top you’ll find beautiful 360-degree views, a cafe, and an interpretive center. This gondola ride is ticketed, but kids ride free, making this a perfect family activity.
A free ride on the Village Gondola in Mammoth is another family-friendly activity during the ski-season (available roughly December to April, when Canyon Lodge is open). Hop on the gondola at The Village at Mammoth and take it up to Canyon Lodge for a bird’s-eye view of some of Mammoth’s neighborhoods, the Sherwin Mountains, and even out to Crowley Lake.
For something a bit more adventurous, take a scenic ride up June Mountain’s J1 chairlift. This two-seater chairlift runs high above the ground and offers incredible views of Carson Peak and the surrounding mountains, the lakes in the June Lake community below, as well as out to Mono Lake and the Mono Craters.
